Ireland's Colourful Cobh
Cobh, County Cork, is one of Ireland’s most beautiful harbour towns, known for its bright, cheerful houses, fascinating history, and amazing sea views. It was the last stop of the Titanic before it set off on its tragic journey in 1912, making it an important place for anyone interested in history. Many Irish people also left from Cobh to start new lives in America and beyond, so the town has deep connections to Ireland’s past.
There are plenty of things to see and do in Cobh. The Titanic Experience is a must-visit, where you can learn about the passengers who boarded the ship here. The Cobh Heritage Centre tells the story of Irish emigrants who left from this harbour, while St. Colman’s Cathedral is an incredible sight, with its towering spire and stunning views of the town. If you enjoy adventure, take a short ferry ride to Spike Island, which was once a prison and now offers great walks and history tours. The town’s waterfront is also perfect for a relaxing stroll, with plenty of cafés and pubs where you can enjoy fresh seafood and soak up the friendly atmosphere.
